In this third and final vignette from my feature documentary production of “The Only Human in the Room,” we garner definitive proof that job candidate “Austin” is a verifiable deepfake. And that he might have tried to infiltrate the company the month prior using a difference face and voice.
According to recent research from risk management company Nisos, “Austin” is just one operative in a massive, state-sponsored campaign.
In a single year, just 22 operatives used AI deepfakes to submit nearly 167,000 applications.
Operating through stolen identities and US-based “laptop farms,” this single cell secured over 21,000 corporate interviews.
Today, cybersecurity experts warn that nearly every Fortune 500 company has already unknowingly hired one.
